Medium-deep crimson. Lovely ripe strawberry, dark plum aromas with hints of graphite. Sweet-fruited and sinuous with smooth red cherry strawberry, plummy fruits, some red liquorice notes, slinky fine textures, some mid-plate viscosity and persistent fresh vibrant acidity. Crunchy and pure with aniseed at the finish, In a great spot now. 14.5% alc Drink now–2028 Bethany Wines LE Reserve Shiraz 2021 G 94+ Deep crimson. Blackberry, dark plum, graphite, liquorice aromas. Fresh and inky deep with ample pure blackberry, dark plum fruits, fresh bittersweet tannins, underlying savoury notes and long quartz-like acidity intertwined with star aniseed notes. Very good density and sinuous structure. 14.5% alc Drink now–2032 Château Tanunda Terroirs of the Barossa Greenock Shiraz 2022 G 94+ Medium-deep crimson. Blackberry, chinotto, hint negroni-like aromas with liquorice notes. Supple blackberry, strawberry, cola, liquorice flavours, very good mid-palate volume and fine chalky/chocolaty tannins. Firms up to a bittersweet finish. Very good density and flow. Should have wide appeal. 14.9% alc Drink now–2032 Henschke Johann’s Garden Grenache Mataro 2023 G 94+ Medium crimson. Perfumed strawberry, red cherry, musky plum aromas with cola notes. Refreshing, buoyant and supple with lovely pure red cherry strawberry fruits, some musky cola notes, lovely mid-palate volume and lacy touch chalk textures. Tangy with persistent bright red berry fruits at the finish. Grenache gives the fruits and mataro the structure and length. Lovely to drink now; at its peak. 60% Grenache, 40% Mataro. 14.5% alc Drink now–keep for a while Hobbs of Barossa Ranges 1905 Shiraz 2021 G 94+ Deep crimson. Intense blackberry pastille, black cherry liqueur, Turkish delight aromas with dark chocolate notes. Rich and voluminous with deep-set black cherry, blackberry, spicy cardamom flavours, plentiful grape and oak tannins, and abundant praline marzipan oak notes. Chocolaty, cedar firm at the finish with some pine needle notes. This is a massive wine with all the elements in parts. Will need years to come around. 15.4% alc Drink 2026–2038? Hobbs of Barossa Ranges Tango Shiraz Viognier 2021 G 94+ Medium-deep crimson. Fresh blackberry pastille, pure aniseed stone fruit aromas with hint peppery notes. Well concentrated and vigorous wine with ample dark berry apricot fruits, some peppery/aniseed notes and underlying marzipan, vanilla notes. Finishes crunchy, firm and peppery. Very good richness, volume and torque. 14.7% alc Drink now–2035
