Tim Smith Bugalugs Shiraz 2023 G 93 The fruit here hails from the Barossa floor and sees time in older oak for maturation. Cracking value. The colour of this gem is a deep maroon. It is generous and approachable and redolent with aromas of plums, black cherries, chocolate and smoked meats. All the good things one likes to see in a good Barossa Shiraz. The texture is supple and even cushiony, the tannins plush, and the length excellent. This is simply delicious. Easy drinking it might be, but don’t let that belie the serious quality we have here, which will continue to provide pleasure for six to eight years. Drink now–2032

Medium-deep crimson. lifted cranberry, musky plum, hint chocolaty aromas with herb garden notes. Pure and inky on the palate with attractive musky opium, raspberry, cranberry fruits, slinky firm tannins and underlying roasted walnut notes. Finishes firm and tight. Very glug-able, with oodles of fruit and mineral flow. 14.5% alc Drink now–2027 Sister’s Run Bethlehem Block Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 G 93 From a favoured block in the Barossa, this has a dark mauve hue. The nose gives forth aromas of fruitcake, chocolate, coffee beans, tobacco leaves and chocolate mud cake. For lovers of good Barossa Cab, this is a real crowd pleaser. Plush and generous on the nose, the palate exhibits a little more austerity, with notes of smoked meats and soy. The length and balance are both good and there are touches of sour cherries emerging on the finish. Enjoy this over the next six to 10 years. 1782 dozen made. Really good value. Drink now–2034 Sister’s Run Calvary Hill Shiraz 2021 G 93 A fine Barossa Shiraz from a superb vintage, this is a gleaming maroon in colour. There is real depth here, with force, focus and very good length. The nose gives us black fruits, chocolate, leather, blackberries and delicatessen meats, along with some fresh earthy notes. A supple texture and good balance are both evident, as are the appealingly sleek tannins on the lingering finish. A 10-year proposition. 2812 dozen. Drink now–2034 Sorby Adams The Parish Hall St Aiden’s Shiraz 2021 G 93 Another in the trio of tributes to Great Uncle Keith and his parishes, here we have a wine which spent 24 months maturing in a mix of French and American oak hogsheads. The fruit here hails from the Tanunda region, in particular the sub-regions of Bethany and Rowland Flat. An opaque maroon hue here, the wine is beautifully fragrant, with notes of violets and other florals, cassis, leather, soy, blackberries, cold tea, aniseed and mocha. There is good focus through to a gentle fade showing a soft texture combined with satiny tannins. This is a wine of medium length, which will drink impressively over the next six to 10 years.
