Greenhill Wines Blanc de Blancs Brut Chardonnay 2021
G 91
Traditional method. Subtle white fruit and faint blossom to begin, good even fruit through the palate with supportive mousse, well balanced acidity and pithiness in the finish. Well crafted and pleasing. Drink now–2030 Heirloom Vineyards Pinot Grigio 2025 G 91 Fragrant with bushland blossom and sweet pear, easing back a touch in the palate where the acidity drives the energy. It’s all in place with decent flavour and finish,
and a delicate grip to tighten up the end game. Drink now–2030 Henschke Blanc de Noir MD Johanne Ida Selma Blanc de Noir Pinot Noir NV
G 91
With multiple vintages in the blend – going back to when I was just a wee child (1999) – it’s a waxy little wine with pear skin, white stone fruits and shaved parmesan. The highlight is the bead: moussey, calm and assertive. The finish is fresh, dry, and long. Drink now–2028 Heirloom Vineyards Pinot Noir 2025 G 91 Open and carefree. Wild berries, cold raspberry-leaf tea and spice. It’s gentle – and a little too easy to drink, I’d expect. Apple seed, blood plums and cranberries. Not overly complex, but a joyful ride. Drink now–2030 Hither & Yon Pinot Noir 2024 G 91 From the Hillenvale Vineyard on the western border of the region, the colour is darkish for the variety, with a fruit sweetness in the aroma along with familiar woody notes, even a faint mint/eucalypt waft. Very Australian. The palate has black cherry fruit and peppery spice in the right proportions, with sensible grip in the finish. A riper style that works its charms. Drink now–2030 Howard Vineyard Cabernet Franc 2024 G 91 Savoury and medium-toned. Dried sage, charred peppers and fig leaf. An intellectual wine. The palate is framed again by more dried herbs – lavender stalk, roasted thyme – and a flow of tart plums and cranberry. The acid is sprightly, the tannins sandy. Drink with cured meats. Drink now–2030
