Sidewood Estate Sparkling Pinot NV
G 93
A lifted and joyous style here, fresh fruit notes of apples and white nectarines, a dab of white strawberry tops. Zinging into the palate with citrus feels, a notion of lemon biscuit, creaminess in the superfine mousse, tangy and mouth-watering. Playful. Drink now–2028
The Pawn Wine Co Tempranillo 2022
G 93
Country garden vibes to begin – violets and herb garden notes, mint as well as other woody aromatics, fruit trees swelling with plums, a little leafiness in there as well, the palate building in weight as the varietal tannins come into play without overriding the underlay of energetic acidity. Encouraging wine with great potential at the table. Drink now–2032 Trescowthick The Naughty One Pinot Noir 2024 G 93 From vineyards in Carey Gully and Lenswood, there’s a deal of fleshiness here, some partial whole bunch input, and a supportive cherry danish creamy sense at the front end of the palate, building into a more textured mouthfeel as the exit approaches. A subtle style that comes at you slowly and steadily. Drink now–2032 Wicks Estate C.J. Wicks Chardonnay 2024 G 93 A likeable wine – kind of a badass. Gun flint and wet slate. Lemon balm, orange blossom and grapefruit pith. The palate is textural: smoked salt, snapped twigs and spiced lime sorbet. It’s got muscle, and it’s not for the faint-hearted. The palate’s big – you can see the young-winemaker energy, flashy and powerful. I kind of like that. A modern Chardonnay, done well. Drink now–2030 Wicks Estate Pinot Gris 2025 G 93 A PG with MA pretensions; some reductiveness to begin, flinty and struck match to show for it. This comes out with a spicy vibe in the drinking, fuller flavours allowing that to balance through the palate, savoury feels as well as more familiar stone and apple fruit suggestions. Not your usual straight-as-a-die Gris. Drink now–2030 Artwine Ti Amo Arneis 2025 G 92 Sweet blossom bouquet, fragrant pear, honeydew melon. The palate tells much the same story, with good crisp acidity adding some energy to its ripe pear flavours. An inherent sweet fruit feel drives its narrative. Drink now–2028
