Sherrah Nero d’Avola Nero d’Avola 2024
G 90
A crimson haze of lilac and some lavender stem. Black plums and Bing cherries. Being early picked, this wine retains its red berry crunch, some Gala apple and pink peppercorn spice. A creamy mid palate that meets with thyme and rosemary stem. A lovely mid-week wine that would suit pizza, tomato-based pasta and snags. It would handle a slight chill too. Drink now–2027 Woodstock Deep Sands Shiraz 2022 G 90 An earthy mix of wild strawberries, cherry skin and terra cotta clay sand. Some chocolate powder and cinnamon. The wine is moving into its second skin, showing autumnal and meaty notes in the mix. Acidity is keeping up, making for its inherent drinkability. Ideal for charred lamb ribs or something with a sticky bbq sauce. Drink now–2028.
