d’Arenberg The Coppermine Road Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

G 92

A bramble of mulberry, cassis and black olives. River mint, gum leaf and potting soil. Oak is rich and chocolaty. Fresh bay leaf coming through. It’s perky, and tannins, as expected, are very fine but expertly drying. You can see the trajectory of this wine, still representing the black fruit and herbal flavours decades on. Drink now–2035 d’Arenberg The Sun Surfer Fiano 2025 G 92 A perfumed mix of tropical and orchard fruit with a underlying base of ripe citrus. Mango cheeks, nectarines and lemon Calippo. Lime juice and some pink cherries. Packed full of fruit and sunshine. The palate is juicy and vibrant. This really shows off Fiano’s bedazzling glamour. Some middle palate depth and finishing dry but

still tingling with fruit. Utterly slurpable. Drink now–2028 Dandelion Vineyards Fairytale of McLaren Vale Rose Grenache 2025

G 92

Flamingo pink hue in the glass, this is full of strawberry Chapstick, cut watermelon and ruby grapefruit citrus. Some orange slices and a hint of wet sand. Dry but exceptionally fruity, which means the wine is astonishingly slurpable. A touch of mandarin pith on the finish. A hot summer’s day and this will disappear, so buy more than you expect you need, triple if your besties are coming around. It’s a very good day when you are drinking this in good company. Drink now–2028 Dandelion Vineyards Anevo Grenache, Touriga, Tempranillo 2024 G 92 A mix of blackberries, kirsch and redcurrants. This also throws some Pink Lady apple skin into the light, a touch of green winter herbs too. A cooling sensation and firm tannins. there is some decent chew and grip to the palate. A whole lot going on here, with a mosaic of berries and bramble. A wine for a feast of Mediterranean dishes and long lunch grazing. Drink now–2030 Geoff Hardy Grenache 2024 G 92 Macerated black cherries, raspberry compote and autumn leaves. This is grounded in earth and soil, and what I imagine is seasoned oak adding a layer of richness and sweet cooking spices. A touch of milky chocolate and mocha. There is plenty of drive from acidity, feeling quite natural and reined in. The hero here is the silky palate and layers of fruit enhanced by moderate and classy oak. Drink now–2031

Geoff Hardy Shiraz 2021

G 92

A ripe and attractive bramble nose, this is filled with mulberry jam, black cherries and plum cake. A cracked cardamom pod and some chai spice in the pot as well. Dressed with some blackberry leaf and sage, this is still very fresh and its lively acidity makes for a medium-bodied drink, whilst still providing a full rich and velvety drink. A touch of nostalgia to it, ideal for serving at Christmas for main course and the pud. Drink now–2032
