Tim Adams Mr Mick Fiano 2024

G 93

Fiano, an exciting addition to the Clare Valley wine-scape, brings its signature smooth textural qualities to the glass here together with some delicious spiced citrus, pear and quince. But it is the savoury influence that adds that something extra special to the wine, an almond skin/bitter almond note that resonates and perks up the tastebuds and gets them working overtime. So good. Drink now–2030 Tim Adams The Fergus Grenache, Tempranillo, Malbec 2022 G 93 The Fergus is another one of those consistently strong, well-priced wonders that Tim Adams specialises in. Grenache-led and looking all the better for it with that lifted wild raspberry, cherry, red plum flavours, spice, musk stick confection subtlety married to solid Tempranillo earthy tannins and Malbec herbs. It’s a mighty fine partnership in tune with well-composed supple tannins. Fresh as a daisy. Drink now–2030 Tim Adams Fine Old Tawny NV G 93 The Clare Valley has a long history with fortifieds; Tim Adams keeps it alive with a Fine Old Tawny of depth and concentration. Dried fruit, raisin, butterscotch, dried figs with rancio grilled nuts flavours that go long and carry impressive depth of flavour and clean aromatic, dark spiced spirit. Runs long, runs smooth. Finishing warm and inviting as any good tawny should. 500ml. Drink now–2035 Tim Adams Semillon 2020 G 93 Semillon is the Clare Valley’s quiet achiever, a variety that can easily get under your skin. With golden hues, this 5-year-old arrives with maturity and a toasty complexity. Scents of lemon butter, beeswax, lemon barley and buttered toast with a background of honeysuckle. Fleshy and warm, the palate drives long and clean and lingering. Mature Semillon offers entry into a complex world of flavours and it is a real treat to see one properly aged in the cellar of the producer. Drink now–2030 Tim Adams Aberfeldy Shiraz 2019 G 93 Goes bold, goes super ripe-fruited, and brings in American oak hogsheads to stamp its authority on this big statement of a wine. Deep, dark, impenetrable in colour. Flavours are rich and luxurious in blackberry, plum, chocolate, panforte, earth, leather and pencil shavings oak and woody dark spices. It’s got plenty of personality, generous in firm tannins and has every intention of being around for some time. Drink now–2038
