Juno Wines Shiraz, Grenache 2024
G 90
The blend is dominated by shiraz, 85%, with some younger grenache fruit making up the remainder. All of the fruit is from the Lienert Vineyard on Gomersal Road. The original clone for the shiraz came from the famous Guigal ‘La Mouline’ Vineyard in Côte-Rôtie, in France’s Rhône Valley. Maturation was in neutral French oak hogsheads. A cherry red hue, there is a soft approach to this pleasing Grenache. The aromas weave through red fruits, notably raspberries with a touch of redcurrants and cranberries. A supple texture, medium length and a lingering finish with soft tannins all combine to make this pleasant drinking, and it should remain so for the next 4–6 years. Drink now–2031 Lambert Estate A Thousand Words Chardonnay 2024 G 90 Pale lemon. Exotic tropical perfume, banana, ripe stone fruit, custard, touch candied pineapple. Murray Street Greenock Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
G 90
Another fine wine from the superb 2021 vintage. Under Diam, this hails from the Greenock subregion in the Barossa Valley. The cabernet was joined by 7% cabernet franc and 3% petit verdot. Maturation was in French oak for 14 months, 43% of it new. The mix was approximately one third foudre and two thirds barriques. Deep red in hue, this is quite earthy in style. We have notes of animal skins, mushrooms, red fruits, cigar boxes, root vegetables and liquorice. Savoury all round, the wine is of medium length and offers plenty of grip. For drinking over the next 6–8 years. Drink now–2033
