Kalleske Wines Moppa Shiraz 2023
G 91
Deep crimson. Inky, balsamic, mulberry, chinotto, savoury notes. Densely concentrated, mulberry, blackberry, plum, savoury peppered complexity. Freshness and tightly coiled, fine knit, chalky tannins and mineral length. Drink 2028–2036 Lambert Estate Up In The Air Viognier 2025 G 91 Inevitably youthful, the colour here is a straw with the merest hint of bronze. This is very much Viognier from head to toe. Unmistakable. There are aromas of apricots – skins, flesh, pits and juice, but there is also a hint of ginger and just a touch of citrus. A firm finish, this is most attractive, but it is not overly long. For enjoying more in the short term. Drink now–2028 Levrier Wines by Jo Irvine Merlot 2019 G 91 Deep crimson. Attractive red plum cassis aromas with marzipan notes. Richly flavoured wine with lovely red plum, cassis flavours and classical grainy tannins. An early drinking style. Drink now–soon
MF Wines Syrah 2023
G 91
The technique of semi-carbonic maceration has been used here, with eight months maturation in a combination of eight-month-old French oak hogsheads and puncheons. Just 1,910 bottles produced. A vibrant purple hue, this is a most aromatic effort, and unsurprisingly, it is cherries to the fore – black cherries, especially. In addition, there are notes of blackcurrants, cassis and liquorice. The texture has an appealing plushness, the acidity juicy, and the tannins sleek. There is attractive length here. A wine for enjoying over the next year or two. Drink now–2027 Millon Wines Reserve Shiraz 2021 G 91 Medium-deep crimson. Developed dried plum, hint carob aromas and flavours with raspberry liquorice notes. Well concentrated and velvety with smooth dark and red berry fruits and fine chocolaty tannins. Some herbal chinotto notes at the finish. Drink now–soon Monteperle Vineyard Selection Grenache Mataro 2024 G 91 From the Lyndoch sub-region of the Barossa Valley, and an excellent vintage there, this wine has a crimson magenta hue. Attractive fragrances are evident, with strawberries, cranberries, dry herbs, florals and a sweet core of raspberries. The wine is of a medium length with soft tannins and an appealing ripeness. It will drink very well over the next 3–5 years, longer if you require. Drink now–2030
