Welland Valley & Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2024

G 92

The wine is a combination of fruit from both the Barossa and Eden Valleys, hence the name. Maturation was in French oak for a year. Dark magenta in colour, we have notes of cloves, beef stock, liquorice, smoked meats, bay leaves, plums, blackberries and kirsch on the nose. There is an attractive if slightly earthy texture to the wine, which is a touch rustic and does have a line of fine acidity running the journey. A wine of medium length for enjoying over next 6–8 years. Drink now–2033 Whistler Wines Shiver Shiraz 2023 G 92 Medium-deep crimson. Ripe black cherry, dark plum aromas with hint marzipan bush garrigue notes. Lush in fruit yet sturdy in structure with underlying savoury notes. Finishes firm and tight with mint-chocolate notes. Drink now–keep for a while. Whistler Wines Estate Shiraz 2023 G 92 This fine Barossa Valley Shiraz is a crimson/ cherry red hue. The nose gives us aromas of red fruits, with raspberries to the fore, along with herbs, redcurrants and florals. Very much a red-fruited style, this has pleasing freshness with a juicy palate. It is well balanced, showing good structure and decent length, before finishing with ultra-fine tannins. Drink now–2035
