Greenock Estate Museum Release Reserve Shiraz 2018
G 92
Old vines from a single site with an extended period of maturation in French oak, plus plenty of time in bottle in the cellar, all contribute to this rich Barossa red. Under cork. A dark maroon hue with a deep, red rim, this is big and bold with lashings of chocolate. Still offers oodles of oak but integration is proceeding. Indeed, leaving it for four to five years before approaching it, and then drinking it over the following 10–12 years would be a good plan. The wine does have a slight rural note to it with mushrooms, animal skins and liquorice, as well as the chocolate and black fruits. The wine has good length, with a rather plush texture through to sleek and yet firm tannins, and is showing early complexity. Drink now–2037+ Hayes Family Wines Glengrae Grenache 2024 G 92 From the Ebenezer subregion of the Barossa, 1,333 bottles made. It is a dry-grown bush block which provides the fruit. Yield is always very low. This is a slightly more earthy, savoury style than the Mader, but it does have absolutely sumptuous fragrances. The colour is a crimson purple, while the nose gives us notes of red fruits, raspberries, aniseed, beef stock, cranberries, cherries and some warm earth. There is a real juiciness to the wine, with a bright line of acidity, and it finishes with a touch of gritty tannins. Good to decent length, this will drink beautifully over the
next 6–8 years. Drink now–2033 Heggies Vineyard Cloudline Chardonnay 2024
G 92
A pale lemon hue, the nose opens with hints of nutmeggy oak, followed by notes of grapefruit, ginger, a hint of peach, cinnamon and hazelnuts. There is juicy acidity running through this, and the wine has decent length and fine balance. Quite delicious now, this is a very fine Eden Valley Chardonnay. Drink now–2028. Heggies Vineyard Estate Chardonnay 2023 G 92 The colour is a shining pale pineapple/lemon hue. A wine of elegance and refinement, there are gentle notes of nuts with peaches, grapefruit and lemongrass. The palate remains quite powerful throughout maintaining intensity with good length, but at all times, well balanced. Drink now–2031. Heggies Vineyard Estate Riesling 2024 G 92 Pale colour, straw hue. Elegant perfume green apple, lemon grass, white blossom and slatey aromas. Plentiful lime, lemon curd, hint of ginger cloaked by appealing tactility. A pleasantly balanced wine in a refreshing style. Drink 2027–2036
