Yalumba Vine Vale Grenache Blanc 2025

G 93

A rare chance to try a most uncommon, at least locally, but intriguing variety. Yalumba has just a single hectare of this Southern Rhône grape, which sits adjacent to its famous Tri-Centenary Grenache vineyard. A very pale lemon hue, the nose conjures impressions of a summer breeze over a citrus blossom orchard. Beautifully fragrant with spices and herbs, peaches, bergamot and lemon curd notes, there is crisp acidity and the wine is neatly balanced with very good length and a lingering finish. Enjoy over the next 6–8 years. It does beg the question why we do not see more Grenache Blanc across the nation’s vineyards. Drink now–2033 Yalumba Vine Vale Grenache 2023 G 93 Medium-deep crimson. Red plum strawberry herb aromas with some chinotto notes. Richly flavoured wine with red plum, strawberry, redcurrant fruits, slinky textures and attractive mineral acidity. Finishes chalky and juicy. Drink now–2030 Z Wine Hedley Shiraz 2022 G 93 Another cracking effort from the Zerk sisters. The colour is an inky dark maroon. There is quite a spicy nose and still evidence of some toasty oak lingering. If one can give this wine two years before opening, it will reward, and then continue to do so for at least another decade. The wine also offers notes of blackberries, mulberries, chocolate, soy and black cherries. There is power and focus here, a supple structure and texture, good balance, a long and lingering finish with sleek tannins. Impressive

stuff. Drink 2027–2037 Z Wine Section 3146 Shiraz 2023

A delicious style for enjoying over the next decade. Like this a lot. The colour here is a crimson red, with the nose giving us notes of spices, mocha, blackberries, coffee beans, black fruits, aniseed and dried herbs. It lifts even further on the palate with juicy acidity and good energy, finishing with impressive length.
