This wine represents the best Shiraz from parcels from their Gomersal vineyard in the Barossa. 2021 continues to give us absolutely stellar wines. Under Diam. Maturation was in French oak for 13 months, before a further five months in stainless steel. 68% of the oak was oval 30-hectolitre casks, 23% puncheons and the remaining 9% barriques. 18% was new oak, these being all puncheons. The colour is a vibrant magenta. The nose reveals notes of truffles, black fruits, freshly unearthed beetroot, cassis and chocolate. There is good balance and very good length. The oak is integrating well and the wine has focus, drive and decent balance. There are abundant tannins, reasonably firm. Chocolate notes emerge on the palate. Very attractive drinking over the next 10 years. Drink now–2035 Murray Street Artisan Shiraz 2022 G 93 From the Greenock Estate (92%) and Gomersal (8%) vineyards. There is also 8% of Mataro included in the blend. The wine spends eleven months in oak, 18% of it new. 2,000 dozen. This is an inky dark purple in colour. The nose exhibits notes of chocolate, Black Forest cake, dark berries, bay leaves, blueberries and aniseed, with a gentle oak influence still evident. There is juicy acidity, appealing focus and direction, a lingering finish and very fine tannins, with everything in place. Lots to like here in this wine which really does promise even better things in the years to come. 8–12 years with ease, more if you need them. Excellent buying. Drink now– 2037 Paulmara Estates Nero D’Avola 2024 G 93 Medium-deep crimson. Attractive pure dark cherry, dark plum aromas with mocha/ espresso notes. Inky, pure and sweet fruited with generous dark berry fruits, light chocolaty textures and underly spicy/ espresso notes. Drink now–2034 Pewsey Vale Estate Riesling 2025 G 93 From a single vineyard in the Eden Valley, planted between 1961 and 2010, the colour here is a very pale, near transparent lemon. The nose gives us delightful aromas of jasmine, pears, river stones, a range of florals, a touch of pineapple, grapefruit and other citrus notes. There is focus, energy and very good length here and this should drink beautifully for the next 10–12 years, at the very least. Drink now–2037 Poonawatta Insurance Block Shiraz 2021 G 93 Medium-deep crimson. Blackberry, hint toffee/ aromas with dark chocolate notes. Concentrated blackberry pastille, liquorice, aniseed flavours, smooth chocolaty textures and underlying aniseed notes. Drink now–2038
