A purple/ maroon hue, the nose offers an array of aromas swirling through plums, dark fruits, chocolate, blackcurrants and dried herbs. The wine is well-structured and is quite tight and restrained at this early stage. A wine of focus and impressive length, finishing with fine tannins, there is a line of bright acidity running the full length. Beautifully crafted, this is a wine which will reward those with the patience to cellar it for the long haul, though it will also provide pleasure in its early years. Drink now–2040 Barossa Boy Wines Little Tacker GSM 2020 G 93 Medium-deep colour. Attractive musky plum, dark chocolate aromas with some herbgarden notes. Lovely dark plum, praline flavours, fine bittersweet textures, underlying savoury notes and pronounced linear acidity. Showing youthful abundance probably held together by the acid line. Drink now–2034 Barr Eden Estate Avenue to Gold Shiraz 2021 G 93 Deep crimson. Lifted black cherry, forest floor, choco-mint aromas. Well-concentrated and gravelly textured with ample choco-berry, spicy flavours, fine granular tannins and underlying savoury, roasted walnut notes. Finishes drying firm and minerally with seductive sweet fruit notes. Drink now–2035 Bethany Blue Quarry Single Vineyard Riesling 2024 G 93 From the Flaxman Valley sub-region of the Eden Valley, more specifically the Batten Vineyard, the wine underwent a cool fermentation in stainless steel. The colour is a very pale lemon. The pristine nose gives us notes of limes, florals, grapefruits, talc, jasmine and river stones. There is a fine minerally support system here, a wine of impressive length and good focus, which will certainly improve over time. Enjoy this very fine Riesling anytime over the next 10–12 years. So much to like here. Drink now–2037 Bethany Blue Quarry Shiraz 2023 A wine which epitomises the Bethany sub-region in the Barossa Valley, maturation was in a mix of French and American oak puncheons and hogsheads, 43% of them new. The colour here is a purple/maroon hue. The nose reveals notes of chocolate, soy, aniseed, roast meats, mocha, coffee beans and cloves. A wine of medium length, which is impeccably balanced and seamless throughout. Lingers with intent. Enjoy this over the next 8–10 years. Drink now–2035
