Hay Shed Hill Wines Chardonnay 2024
G 90
Some wild lime skin backed by white peaches and apple blossom. Acidity undulates and adds charm and a gentle expression of the white stone fruit. Some notes of lees and almond cream round out the finish. Drink now with white polenta chips. Drink now Higher Plane Vanishing Point 2023 G 90 A mix of heady blackberries, mulberries and toffee apples. A nice display of picked plums features throughout. Some thyme and thistle with plenty of juicy acidity. Fruit envelopes the palate with its oak spice sitting behind. There is also a smattering of black pepper flakes and clove studs. A wine that ticks a lot of boxes for drinkability and a good whack of complexity, but utterly enjoyable on its own too. An excellent pizza wine. Drink now–2027 Lenton Brae Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 2024 G 90 Semillon leads the charge here with lemon myrtle, green apple skin, and lime blossom. There is a touch of the tropical that takes form in green mango and a splice-like cooling freshness. Some oak fermentation adds the buttered toast and fermenting ginger spice. There is plenty to consider, and already you are starting to see the journey this wine will take with time, full of exotic lime oils and creamy textures. Drink now–2032 Moss Brothers Moses Rock Chenin Blanc 2025 G 90 Margaret River Chenin Blanc, the wine spent three months on lees in a mix of stainless steel and older oak for maturation. Pale straw in colour, this is quite a firm style, classically varietal, with notes of pears, apples and even a hint of that typical hessian note, along with a whiff of honeycomb. Perhaps needs a touch more length to step up to the next level, but it is an easy drinking style and most pleasant. Mid-weight, it will drink well for the next five to six years. Drink now–2031 Passel Estate Chardonnay 2023 G 90 Here, peaches and cream meet lemon drop. Hints of tea tree and cold peach tea. Acidity is steep with some grapefruit oil lingering. A wine that is showing some subtle spice and honeysuckle on the finish. Drink now with some Balmain bug meat tossed through linguine. Drink now–2028
