The Margaret River Wine Guide 2026

Brown Hill Estate Perseverance Cabernet Merlot 2022

G 92

A brooding wine with blackberries, some dots of blueberries, and lavender florals. The friendly nature of Merlot really shines here, with Cabernet driving the black fruit home. I think this really considers the drinkers and provides ample acidity and freshness to boot. Like a slow dance with a loved one, it’s comforting in its caress. Drink now–2030 Byron & Harold Rags to Riches Sauvignon Blanc 2025 G 92 Margaret River Savvy can tend to the herbaceous if the makers are not careful, but no fear of that here. A pale lemon/lime hue, this is very aromatic with flavours exploding out of the glass. Very much at the tropical end of the spectrum with notes of passionfruit, well supported with a touch of gooseberries and blackcurrant leaves. A seamless style with excellent length, which maintains its intensity for the full journey. Enjoy this over the next three to four years. Drink now–2029 Churchview Estate Range Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2025 G 92 A very popular style from the region which may have been somewhat inhibited over recent years by the Kiwi Sauvalanche, but one which still has many fans and deservedly so. A lemon straw colour, there are impressive aromatics here. A mix of some herbal notes with lovely tropical aromas, passionfruit and hints of mango. There is a touch of white peach as well, all supported by a minerally underlay. The wine has decent length and good focus with a line of bright acidity. A refreshing style for drinking over the next four to six years. Drink now–2028 Churchview The Bartondale Chardonnay 2024 G 92 The team gained full Certified Organic Qualifications in 2020 and consequently, the wines are made accordingly. This Chardonnay is racked to French oak barriques for a natural fermentation, followed by ten months on lees. Lemon-green in colour, this is a slightly leaner style than some from the region, but there is some underlying generosity to be found. The nose gives us a range of aromas, including citrus, melon, lemongrass, gunflint, stone fruits and hints of oatmeal. This is taut, tight and poised, with good concentration. It may need a little time to add flesh to the bones, but it is most certainly a wine with its best years ahead of it. Drink this over the next six to eight years. Drink now–2032
