Barossa Wine Guide 2026

Gibson Wines Burkes Hill Single Site Shiraz 2020

G 94

Deep crimson. Black cherry pastille, touch marzipan, vanilla aromas. Fresh blackberry, black cherry, fruits, firm chocolaty textures and pronounced espresso marzipan notes. Builds up grippy and tight. Looks much younger than its vintage. Drink now–2035 Gibson Wines Australian Old Vine Collection Eden Valley Shiraz 2019 G 94 Deep crimson. Attractive dark cherry, coffee, demi-glace, tobacco leaf aromas with hints of sandalwood. Concentrated dark cherry/ demi-glace, mocha/ espresso flavours, and plentiful chocolaty textures. Very good mid-palate complexity and generosity. Finishes bittersweet and long. Drink now–2032 Gibson Smokey Oak Shiraz 2021 G 94 An interesting wine, a limited edition of just 500 cases, it has been crafted in association with the Adelaide Weber Grill Academy to complement a range of barbecue dishes. The fruit comes from the northern Barossa. The final wine is a barrel selection of those barrels which were deemed to particularly suit the final aim. The colour is a vibrant deep maroon. The wine is from the superb 2021 vintage, which is to its advantage. The nose offers notes of florals, blackberries, cocoa powder, a touch of truffles, charcuterie and chocolate with graphite and black fruits running throughout. It is still tight, even a little closed, but there is a subtle, seductive texture, fine line of acidity, very good length and silky tannins. Love it. I can see no possible reason for restricting this to barbecues only, although it will undoubtedly work brilliantly if you do. 10–15 years. Drink now–2040 Glaetzer Bishop Shiraz 2022 G 94 Deep crimson. Blackberry, liquorice, roasted walnut aromas. Concentrated blackberry. Roasted walnut flavorus and fresh chocolaty textures. Finishes firm and

tight. Drink now–keep for a while. Golden Amrita Sunshine Hill Shiraz 2022
