Inky dark maroon in hue, this is a plush style, very generous. Aromas of tobacco leaves, blackberries, spices, liquorice, charcuterie, mocha and coffee beans are woven throughout. A fine line of acidity runs the full length and there is good focus. There is a touch of austerity to this wine. Good balance, excellent length, fine but firm tannins, a top year and a well-structured wine all combine to make this a cracker. A 15-year proposition. Drink now–2040
