Barossa Wine Guide 2026

Whistler Wines Dry As a Bone Rosé 2025

G 90

The colour is that of an orange/pink sunset, while the nose is all strawberries and cream. There are small, though pleasant intrusions from dry herbs, florals and red fruits. Quite an exuberant style, this is fresh and clean with medium length and a gentle finish. An attractive rosé best consumed in the reasonably near future. Drink now–2027

Whistler Wines Estate Shiraz, Cabernet 2023

G 90

A blood red colour here, the wine offers appealingly lifted aromatics with notes of florals, truffles, root vegetables, black fruits, soy, black cherries and liquorice. A wine of moderate length and a gentle fade, it really does need a little more persistence to reach the next level. There are fine tannins here and a flick of acidity. Under cork. Drink now–2029 Yalumba Samuel’s Collection Barossa Bush Vine Grenache 2023 G 90 Medium crimson. Attractive strawberry red cherry pastilles with herbgarden notes. Supple and sweet with abundant red cherry, strawberry fruits, cola notes, fine chalky textures and well-integrated acidity. Lovely, but best to drink early. Drink now–soon Z Wine Franz Cabernet, Shiraz 2021 G 90 Medium-deep crimson. Fresh cassis, bush garrigue minty aromas and flavours with some mocha notes. Well concentrated palate with plentiful fine-grained/ chewy tannins. Cedar firm finish. Drink now–2035
