Peter Lehmann Wines Portrait Riesling 2025
G 91
Mid-range tier in the PL range, with proper Riesling character, comfortable in the palate without overly harsh acidity, and a reasonable pithy texture and finish. A
good, everyday style. Drink now–2030 Purple Hands After Five Wine Co Aglianico 2023
G 91
Medium-deep crimson. Herbal chinotto redcurrant aromas. Grippy textured with vibrant sweet red cherry redcurrant fruits and slinky dry tannins. Builds up crispy and juicy at the finish. Drink now–2030 Schild Estate Old Vines Chardonnay 2025 G 91 A similar style to the standard, though it exhibits a little more elegance and some good intensity. A gentle lemon/straw hue, there is a touch of finesse here, which works very well. The flavours revolve around notes of stone fruits and melon and the finish is all crunchy apples. There is good length here, with some gentle persistence. Fresh and most pleasant now, it will continue to drink well over the next 2–3 years. Drink now–2028 Seppeltsfield Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz 2023 G 91 Deep colour. Restrained blackcurrant, graphite aromas with herbgarden notes. Sinewy palate with fresh cassis herb dark chocolate flavours, grippy firm tannins and underlying dusty notes. Will gather richness with age, but very tight and unevolved. Drink now–2036 Sorby Adams Gudilly Grenache, Shiraz, Mataro 2024 G 91 Generous and approachable drinking from a fine example of the famous Barossa blend, from a single vineyard, and a fine vintage. The blend is 75% grenache, 15% shiraz and 10% mataro and maturation was for 12 months in French oak. The colour is quite a vibrant purple, while the nose exhibits notes of warm earth, animal flesh, delicatessen meats, milk chocolate and raspberries. Quite earthy, this is a wine of medium length, sleek tannins and good balance. There are hints of sour cherries on the finish. Drink over the next 4–6 years. Drink now–2031 Stage Door Wine Co Riesling 2024 G 91 The colour is a pale lemon. This is a fine Riesling, for earlier drinking than many, from an excellent vintage. Made by Phil Lehmann, son of the legendary Peter Lehmann, but also a winemaker who has carved out a stellar reputation of his own. It is quite a forward style, soft and slightly plush in texture with a gentle fade. There is a flick of acidity. Drink now–2029
