St Hallett Garden of Eden Shiraz 2023

G 92

Dark crimson. Dark plum, blackberry chinotto aromas with hints of spice. Generous and inky with ample dark berry fruits and fresh long savoury tannins. Finishes dry with an aniseed kick. Drink now–2030 St Hugo Eden Valley Chardonnay 2024 G 92 Lemon/straw in colour, this is youthful and quite nutty at this early stage as the oak continues to integrate. A wine of power, focus and direction. There are aromas of stone fruits, dried herbs, peaches and apricots. Quite a supple texture, there is a fine line of acidity, but that underlying power is always evident. This wine will surely improve over the coming years. Drink now–2033 St Hugo Eden Valley Riesling 2025 G 92 Classically floral, richer flavours, full Riesling expression all done with aplomb and attractive varietal character. Drink now–2035 Stage Door Wine Co Grenache, Shiraz, Mataro 2024 G 92 This is a fine example of the Barossa blend. Crimson garnet in colour, the nose gives us notes of plums, herbs, black fruits, mulberries, roast meats and warm earth. Love the nose. This is young, but really is delightfully attractive. Juicy acidity runs the length, which is persistent and lingering. Like this a lot. Drink now–2031 Stage Door Wine Co Shiraz 2021 G 92 A lovely example of Barossa Shiraz for drinking any time over the next decade. The colour is a blood-red/garnet. The nose offers notes of spices and herbs, red fruits, warm earth and chocolate. This is fresh and youthful, has good direction, fine tannins and impressive length. There is an attractive flick of bitterness, just on the finish. Shows the advantages that come from great vintages. Drink now–2035 Teusner Gentleman Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 G 92 Deep crimson. Fresh blackcurrant, cacao, mint aromas. Inky deep wine with plentiful cassis, herbgarden flavours, fine grainy, touch cedary tannins and underlying chinotto notes, Firm finish with leafy nuances. Cabernet to its liquorice bootstraps. Drink now–2032
