Chaffey Bros. Wine Co Omnia Nova Syrah 2023
G 92
The name for this wine hails from ‘Corinthians’. Just 270 dozen made. The team used 15% whole bunches and the wine spent eight months in French oak hogsheads. A bright garnet hue, the nose reveals mushroom notes, red fruits, hints of damp forest floor, spices and cherries. A wine of medium length with juicy acidity, this is fresh and energetic. Will show improvement in the coming years. Drink now–2033 Chaffey Bros. Wine Co Tripelpunkt Riesling 2025 G 92 The fruit for this fine Riesling comes from three discrete blocks in the Fechner Vineyard in the Eden Valley. The vineyard dates back to 1964. The name of the wine is a nod towards those three blocks. The wine underwent a wild ferment. Very pale straw colour, the nose opens with bright citrusy, lemony notes. Quite an exuberant style with kaffir limes, florals and river stones. Good focus; there is a clean finish which lingers pleasantly, although it really could do with a touch more length to go to the next level. There is a fine line of cutting acidity. Enjoy this over the next 6–8 years. Drink now–2033
Chaffey Bros. Wine Co Dufte Punkt Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Kerner 2025
G 92
A field blend, the team aim to incorporate ‘the spiciness of the Gewürztraminer, the precision of Riesling and the texture of Kerner. From the Fechner Vineyard in the Eden Valley, the three components are co-fermented. The colour is a near invisible straw. The aromatics are very much the highlight, and we have lifted notes of spices, citrus, florals, nectarine, musk and lavender. Fine acidity runs the full journey in this wine of medium length. Pleasant drinking now and over the next couple of years.
