Barossa Valley – South Australia 2024 Medium-deep crimson. Lovely developed dark plum, redcurrant, roasted walnut aromas with herb garden notes. Well-balanced palate with inky dark plum, cassis, redcurrant fruits, velvety textures and underlying roasted walnut notes. Builds up chalky dry at the finish with persistent buoyant fruit. In a very good place now, with the maturation effect giving the wine complexity and appeal. 48% grenache, 46% shiraz, 6% mataro. Nine months in 63% seasoned French and 37% seasoned American oak hogsheads. Drink now – keep for a while. 14.5% alc Quin Wines Grenache, Shiraz, Mataro 2023 G 94 Dark crimson. Inviting aromas of briar, earth, woodsmoke, dark berries and spice. A most complete example of the GSM style, one that combines the ripeness of black fruits with the sweet, red liquorice notes and baking spices and the firm but fine tannic qualities of the varieties involved. It is sound in fruit integrity and concentration, and tannin depth and overall style. Now–2035 Bethany Wines Blue Quarry Manse Grenache 2024 G 93 Purple-crimson. Quite playful, autumnal aromas of blueberry, cherry and plum mixed with liquorice, dusty cocoa and hints of raspberry pastille. Good depth of fruit and concentration on the palate, but it is the textural appeal of this wine and the freshness of acidity that really makes an impact, especially on the finish. Nice concentration and sense of finesse. Food-friendly style all round. Now–2034 Camino Wine Co. Centenary Vines Grenache 2025 G 93 Bright purple. A herbal-enhanced, peppery spiced young grenache that shines sinewy bright. Aromas of spearmint, mint, briar, earth and leafy herbals dance with cherry, berry, vibrant fruits. Mineral notes thread through the palate. Medium-bodied and very approachable. Now–2032 Murray Street Greenock Estate Grenache 2024 G 93 Red-crimson. Cherry-berry fresh, and alive with summer berries and oak drawn together in a complex thread of herbs and spice. Instantly appealing with aromas of grassy herbs, cherry, berries, English garden florals, earth, leaf and bracken. Rides high on the palate in cherry-berry flavours, deep, juicy and fresh, herbal in tone and alive in spice. Now– 2031
