Quiet and subdued aromas benefit from a good swish of air before opening to reveal a richer style of grenache in earth, choco-mint aromas, blackberries, blackcurrant pastille, cherry and woodsmoke. A light oaky smokiness opens on the palate with twig, herbs, black fruits, anise, chocolate and mint, delivered on hearty chocolaty tannins. Generous and smooth. Now–2036 Yelland & Papps Single Vineyard Old Vine Grenache 2025 G 93 Bright purple. Full-bodied and high in spice, made in a soft, lightly oaked, fleshy tannin style that is immediately appealing. Reveals good depth and concentration of red and dark fruits on the palate with five spice, pepperberry, anise, earth and light florals and confection. Finishes on a lasting pepperiness. Now–2033 Arila Gardens Moppa Grenache, Shiraz, Mataro 2024 G 92 Bright purple-crimson. Fruit-forward in lively black cherry and plum with red florals, rose petal and light confection notes. A rising hint of black pepper and liquorice spice livens up the palate alongside supple tannins and juicy acidity. Now–2033 Barossa Boy Little Tacker Grenache, Shiraz, Mataro 2024 G 92 Medium crimson. Lifted strawberry, choco-berry, musky plum hint of red liquorice confectionary aromas. Vibrant and buoyant, with juicy red fruits, musky plum and cola flavours. Fine chalky tannins carried by youthful acidity and a dusting of spice on the finish. Well made, early drinking style. Crimson red. Traditional and inviting grenache varietal aromas of black and red cherry, plum, wild raspberry and spice with a lift of aromatic floral musk. Warms to its varietal character, moving into an earthy, red- and dark-fruited intensity on the middle palate with spice, cocoa and the rising inflection of sweet, musky florals. Now–2030
