Mr Riggs Yacca Paddock Tempranillo 2024
G 90
Meaty… meaty indeed – yet still gently framed and open. Venison tartare, dried beetroot, blood and bone mix. I like it. It feels old and varnished. The tannins are soft yet firm; the finish lingers with more meat and blueberry compote. Drink now–2029 Murdoch Hill Sauvignon Blanc 2025 G 90 A more demure aromatic to begin than many other Sauvignons, a sense of creamier tropical fruits to begin, then a good spring step of bright, crunchy juice in the palate to freshen up the energy. Drink now–2027 Paracombe Pinot Noir 2024 G 90 Begins with all the varietal notes at the ready, darker spices and herbs, some bark, with familiar black cherry flavours, a faint green apple (and toffee) edge, with a very faint peppery seasoning. A nice introduction to the variety. Drink now–2028 Paracombe Sommerville Shiraz 2015 G 90 A best barrel selection every year from transplanted 100-plus-year-old vines originally grown in the Paracombe district in the late 1800s. This is a decade old now and retains its richness and vitality, the fruit quite ripe but with some age now just creeping in. It carries its history with pride. Drink now–2028 Pike & Joyce L’optimiste Shiraz 2024 G 90 Bright-toned and eager – it has the electric charm of a Beaujolais-kissed Shiraz. Juicy, slightly confected fruit with plenty of aromatic lift: blueberry, sweet spice and purple chocolate. Drink it slightly chilled. Drink now–2029 Pressed Chardonnay 2025 G 90 Designed as a value-plus choice, this gets all the Chardonnay ducks in a row: green apple, a faint tropical note, citrus squeezed, a bare sense of oak in the background. Will please everyday drinkers. Drink now–2027
Pressed Rosé Pinot Noir 2025
G 90
Shiny pale pink in the glass, crimson rose petal and raspberry/cherry crush aromas, with a fully packed palate, mid weight to fuller in Rosé terms, richer in texture. Well suited to the table. Drink now–2028
