EKIN Wine Co Rosé 2024

G 92

Shiny pale pink, all the familiar pale rose aromas of petals and a faint crushed mineral layer. A spring in its step to drink with a lovely strawberry tang to it, even a light dusting of spice in the palate. Go for it. Drink now–2027 Honey Moon Vineyard Rosé Brut Reserve Pinot Noir NV G 92 A little shy to begin. Watermelon, strawberry drop biscuits and blood orange skin. For those looking for nuance and character – search hard enough and you’ll find a pulsing vein of amaro within; that’s my favourite part. Taut acid tension drives the palate, with savoury apple seed and lemon. Drink now–2028 Honey Moon Vineyards Fancy Rosé Chardonnay, Pinot, Syrah 2025 G 92 Strawberry candy, crushed stones and Meyer lemon. Light-hearted and fresh, as Rosé should be – yet this one carries a little more tension and detail. Rhubarb, yellow grapefruit and fairy dust. The acid is linear, driving the palate through to a long, enjoyable finish. Drink now–2029 K1 by Geoff Hardy Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 G 92 In a big, handsome bottle, this is one for the traditionalists, with big huggable cabernet fruit and sweeter oak notes to start. It’s rich and warm in the core of the palate, chewy, blackberry and vanilla compote feels in the flavour spectrum. Grandad will love it. Drink now–2034 Karrawatta Anth’s Garden Chardonnay 2022 G 92 Grown in the Karrawatta’s Meadows vineyard, there’s a slow burn to this wine, not heat but a gradual release from understated aromas to more overtly expressed white stone fruits with a bright spark of pithy acidity in the palate. The dynamic is its identity. Drink now–2030 La Linea Rosé Tempranillo 2025 G 92 Bright mid pink – stands out colour-wise among paler variations. Aroma-wise, there’s an element of earth and mushroom in the beginning, with darker rose petal, followed in the palate by red cherry juiciness and darker, hard spice like cinnamon and clove. This is no simple Rosé splash, but has more body and gastronomic structure, even a sense it would sit beside rare lamb or beef without blinking. Drink now–2028
