Adelaide Hills Wine Guide 2026

BK Wines Ego Is the Enemy Pinot Gris 2024

G 92

Formerly known as “Ovum”, from the steep Scary Gully Vineyard, this is PG with MA attitude, opening with an unctuous look and smell, apple pie and ginger, with lovely structure and a balanced palate, acid and texture on song, the fruit at an exact ripeness for drinking joy. Drink now–2027 Bleasdale Chardonnay 2024 G 92 A good everyday style of Chardonnay here, with all the varietal and stylistic elements in play. White stone fruits, backgrounding oak, no silly tricks and turns, palate respect and a decent structural pith in the finish. Pour it with confidence. Drink now–2029 Catlin Blanc de Traminer Gewürztraminer, Pinot Blanc 2022 G 92 Gewürztraminer and Pinot Blanc co-fermented on skins in a concrete egg-shaped vessel, pushing or perhaps expanding boundaries. The colour is mid gold, the aroma exotic, floral, a bit herbal with some mint on show, though nicely toned down as it slides into a mouth-watering palate texture, spiced, cashewy, with some lip-smack and drama in the finish. An adventure – in a good way. Drink now–2027
