Adelaide Hills Wine Guide 2026

Sidewood Estate The Foil Sauvignon Blanc 2025

G 94

Sauvignon Blanc is the enduring pop star of Adelaide Hills white wines, its hook well and truly driven by wild and exotic aromas, here in tell-all themes of passionfruit, a brush of tomato bush, a waft of Boronia and Daphne florals, all not shy in coming forward in expressing the variety’s calling-card attractions. The palate follows much the same script in terms of aromatic flavours with a mouth-watering splash of lime juice acidity and fine pithiness. It’s refreshing, zesty, and hits the savvy brief with a fair bit of swagger. Drink now Sidewood Estate Sparkling Rosé Pinot Noir NV G 94 A disco-pink colour sets the tone – playful, giddy and bright. Musk sticks, lychee and fresh spring flowers. Tensioned and linear, with a bead that, like the rest of the range, is outstanding. Pristine detail on the palate – lemon sherbet and dancing princesses. Though aromatically flirty, it’s serious in frame – and knows it. Drink now–2028 Sidewood Estate Harrison’s Black Syrah 2024 G 94 Gentle and flowing. The palate shows fine structure and tension – delicate tart plum, parsley stalk and coriander seed. Named correctly, it’s most definitely a Syrah: lighter in frame, without too much chub on its bones. White pepper, violets and a mix of tart red and black fruits follow. There’s real poise in its architecture, leading to a long, sustained finish of pressed rose petals and sweet spice. Drink now–2032 Sidewood Estate Cassandra Blanc de Blancs Chardonnay 2018 G 94 Traditional method. Late disgorged after six years on lees. Colour now just into light golden. Pristine expression of this style, the faintest of tirage edges to begin, with a lovely streusel-like note in the palate, fresh, bright white fruits with a tingle from the well cultured mousse. No scary edges. A perfectly well-mannered party guest. Drink now–2028
