Lobethal Road Pinot Gris 2025

G 94

Some whole bunch and barrel ferment work here. Florals and spices roll around in the nasals, apple orchard and musk feels, all neatly balanced and even across the palate, flavours well designed, with just enough texture and structure to give this a note of sophistication. Drink now–2030 Lobethal Road Sauvignon Blanc 2025 G 94 Familiar tropical attractions to begin, though neatly under control, more elegant, with well cultured flavours and textures. Some subtle anise spice adds interest to the creamy palate, with some zest and pith to freshen up in the finish. All rounded and delicious. Drink now–2028 Lobethal Road Bacchant Shiraz 2022 G 94 Powerful Shiraz here, rich and warmly wrapped in spice and sensitive oak that slides comfortably into the palate, attractive blueish-berried aromas and flavours, with a fairly thick hug of tannins in the finish, though fruit carries its weight. Solid expression. Drink now–2036 Longview Saturnus Nebbiolo 2022 G 94 100 days on skins. Familiar ruby colour, and elegant fragrance, bergamot, bay leaf, violet, and some faint mandarin peel. A more elegant expression of the variety, with distinctive shape in the tannin structure, a wrap-around mode that has a dynamic in the palate. The wine evolves in the glass as you sip and savour, which offers further contemplation and pleasure. Drink now–2036 Murdoch Hill Chardonnay 2024 G 94 The starting point of three Chardonnay releases from Murdoch Hills, this is sourced from across the region. It states the house style with some reduction and match-lit character to begin, but the palate is more focused on delicious Chardonnay white stone fruit notes with nicely balanced acidity, the palate flavours toned sensitively with the barest of background oak. Quite attractive. Drink now–2030 Nepenthe Pinnacle Albariño 2024 G 94 Subtle and alluring aromas – field grasses, orchard blossom – before these infuse a fragrant seam into the palate, fresh apple and white nectarine fruits, a tiny zesting of lemon, nothing getting in the way of its pure lines in the palate that exit with a mouth-watering pith. Delicious. Drink now–2030
